Gregory Page presents the new album "So It Goes" Written by Louis Nouws, Popmagazine Heaven, March 9th 2017 Translation by Aad van Vliet 'Making Americana Great Again', Jason Mraz tweeted about his friend Gregory Page. Funny and harsh at the same time, because this sympathetic American has had a drudging career as a musician in the margins for years, while he continues to deliver beautiful albums. The Netherlands is a country where Gregory Page is truly valued. He stays here large parts of the year, because his vintage music and presence do get the response here in a way he is still awaiting in his homeland. There might be some change with So It Goes, his new album. This album features amongst others pedal-steel guitar virtuoso Greg Leisz, guitarist Jim Soldi and violinist Dennis Caplinger participated in this album. It has all the characteristics of its predecessors, yet it sounds just fuller, also because of the use of choir and string orchestra in some songs. So It Goes tells the story of an immigrant watching life in America through the eyes of a musician. It touches on his life history, because his family emigrated from Ireland to the US west coast. Gregory Page is a masterful writer who has a keen eye for what is going on and who has the ability to put into words his observations realistically, sensitive and yet with a great sense of humor. His nostalgia for trending numbers carried by his weathered voice introduces you to the pre-war heyday of folk, jazz and americana …. http://www.popmagazineheaven.nl/gregory-page-presenteert-nieuw-album

Gregory Page – “So It Goes” PlatoMania Magazine, April 2017 English version (translation from Dutch) Gregory Page is a special and quirky musician. So It Goes, is the title of his new CD. Tranquility and beauty give each other politely priority in the eleven songs on this magnificent, sedate album. Somewhat lost in space and time Page makes melancholic music, wistfully referring to the atmosphere of the fifties of the last century. His lyrics are miniature observations where you would stick little images in a poetry album yourself with (“Sleeping dogs dream of chasing a ball ... ..fast coaches dream of winning a race ... there are fireworks exploding in my heart”). So It Goes describes the fate of his ancestors: Irish who emigrated to America. The music expresses the emotions and feelings. As a child, Page was enchanted by the 78s of his grandfather. That fascination is still there and sounds crystal clear on So It Goes. Remarkably, the coloring of the instrumentation varies from the 22 Piece Orchestra & Choir to the string quartet Art of Elan. Page's nostalgia-inducing songs lean on folk from Ireland in the distance (the country of his mother), jazz, americana and pop. Page has no shortage of inspiration nor imagination. He has rightly put the beautiful Sleeping Dogs from 2008 on the album again, this time complete with beautiful strings. A stylish and subtle pleasure for the ear, that's So It Goes. And that’s right. https://www.platomania.nl/album/4862869/so-it-goes/page-gregory
